Oneida Indian Nation economic impact on New York state @ $450 million a year

A recent newspaper article shows that the Oneida Indian Nation and its business enterprises had a direct economic impact of about $450 million on the state of New York.

The Nation had more than a $124 million payroll for its 4,800 employees, $4.5 million contributed to employee 401(k) retirement accounts, and almost $320 million spent on goods and services.

Of the $320 million for goods and services, more than $160 million was spent with businesses in the state – including more than $85 million spent with businesses in Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties.
