United States to support UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The United States became the last of the United Nations countries that voted no in September 2007 on the UN DRIP to announce that it is now going to support the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

President Obama made this announcement at his address to the meeting of 565 Federally recognized tribes at the Interior Department this morning. wd.

The President stated that the “United States is lending its support to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. What matters far more than words are actions to match those words.”
