Oklahoma Senator threatens tribal economic development

Indian Country Today reports that U.S. Senator Tom Coburn R-Ok has proposed a federal deficit reduction plan that would eliminate significant tax exempt bond programs for sovereign American Indian nations that put them on an equal playing field with state, county, and municipal governments. He also proposes to cut other initiatives the foster economic development for native communities.

    Ok, I always said if there are any reductions or cuts to funding to Indian Country, just hand over the land leases. America should be aware of that and get over their ignorance and ego. Although it is too much to ask, Senators and Congresspeople ought to brush up actually learn about Indian Country, especially the TREATIES!!
