UN expert says dirty water equals discrimination in America's Indian Country

The United Nations independent expert Catarina de Albuquerque reported that the United States’ record on potable (drinkable) water among American Indian communities is abysmal.  In fact, she states that the situation amounts to discrimination.

The reason she calls this discrimination in her report is that at least 13% of American Indians lack clean water and/or wastewater disposal compared to only 0.6% of non-native American households.  This Week From Indian Country Today, Jan. 4/11, 2012, at 15.
