Nuclear waste storage on Aboriginal lands

In more underreported struggles, the Australian government passed legislation to let nuclear waste be stored at a remote Indigenous community in the Northern Territory.  Indigenous groups and environmentalists have vowed to fight. Muckaty Station was nominated by the Northern Land Council in 2007. But since then several traditional owners have argued they were not properly consulted and did not give their consent to the storage of nuclear waste.
