Pequots fortunes reversed?

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe in Massachusetts has enjoyed a remarkable gaming fueled economic boom in the past two decades due to its Foxwoods Resort Casino.  Tribal citizens were reportedly receiving over $100,000 annually in casino revenue stipends.  New From Indian Country, April 2012, at 6.  But last month Foxwoods and the Tribe stopped making payments any to tribal citizens.  Regular annual payments allegedly ceased in 2010.  The casino faces over $2 billion in debt and the slowdown in the U.S. economy since 2009 continues to lower casino revenues.  One tribal member said: "I was poor before, I can be poor again."
